Taken from Exams To Retire Page from Microsoft:

The Microsoft policy for exam retirement is modeled on the Microsoft Support Lifecycle Policy for technology releases. In accordance with this policy, Microsoft Learning will retire 12 exams on March 31, 2009. These exams focus on technologies that are no longer included in Microsoft mainstream support. The exams are currently required to achieve Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD), Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD), and Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) certifications.

Not a problem, the newer certifications are still there of course.

Check out this link for Certifications Overview

It's really up to you on which tracks and technology you're familiar with and start with the MCTS certifications.

If you're working with VS2008 already, it would be good to prepare for .NET 3.5 certifications (which are still in beta) or if you're working more on VS2005 and .NET 2.0 then if you study for 2.0 you can definitely still use them for .NET 3.5 certification with a few extra information.

You can also try the ongoing beta exams for ASP.NET and ADO.NET 3.5 since it's for free anyway. You can review and if you don't really expect to pass it, at least you get to be familiar with how the exams go.
